NaNo Topics:
Locations:
Review your story line and imagine all the locations you'll need to make this novel happen. Your evil character will need a demon's lair, your happy housewife needs a yellow kitchen, your pilot needs his spaceship, and your teenager needs the back seat of the Oldsmobile. You might not need to flesh out every detail of these locations, but you'll need to be able to help your reader find their way around these settings. Write an overview of the many other places you'll need in your novel and the key descriptions you'll need to make them come alive.

The Guardian by Wolfgang Glinka
Oh my guardian, for that is how you were,
Once, nothing penetrated that cordon sanitaire.
Safe, protected by a love unquestioned,
My own defences fell away.
Behind that caring shield, a delicate germination.
A new birth. Fragile shoots became concrete crushers,
Tenderness flourished, free from fear
And new hope melted hard, boot-crusted ice.
That protection, born of kindness and of love,
Proved cruel in the old, old way.
Solid when the times were right,
But oh so easily withdrawn.
What then for those incubated ones?
Newly-sprung with needy gripping fingers,
Who protects them now?
Or were they born too late?
That cordon, so strongly hammered in,
So lovingly maintained,
Is not uprooted when the builder moves away.
It stands firm, reinforced by remembered joy.
If I become the guardian now,
Self-protector first and last,
Fighting off bitterness, embracing love,
Something will live that nearly died.
