She felt a little silly waiting for over an hour in advance just for an interview. She had to get the job though, she couldn’t fail. Given her situation it’s a little understandable, a young twenty year old fresh out of college with a thirty-five thousand debt to her name. They say you have six months out of college before you had to start paying you loans. They however, never told you it would take about five out of those six months to land a job.
“Is there a Clarisse here? Clarisse De Los Santos, could you please come with me?” I waited long enough though Clarisse as she got up and was escorted into a half-dome shape room. Clear glass window surrounded all sides of the walls allow a stream of light to flood the room from all angles. The interviewer, an attractive Middle Eastern female in her early thirties, sat behind a desk and motion for Clarisse to take a chair in front of her. Shuffling through some paper work the interviewer stop on one page in particular, looked up and introduce herself saying “Hi, I’m Siggy Romulus, founder of Little Rebel Designs, and I will be conduction your interview today. If it’s all right with you let’s start with the basic questions O.K.?” Clarisse just nodded. “So Clarisse, what school did you study fashion and design at?”
“FIDM institution of Art and Design” responded Clarisse.
“O.K. so why do you think Little Rebel is the place for you Clarisse?”
It’s not; I applied to at least twenty other places, getting a response only from you thought Clarisse, out loud she said, “I think there is a little rebel in all of us. I feel that if I work here I will be able to let that rebel out.”
“If hired that do you think you would be able to offer the company Clarisse?”
The same old redundant design dating back to prehistoric time, taught at a fashion school worth only thirty-five thousand of education? “I learn many of the latest and hottest designs featured in Paris and New York right now.”
“What do you expect to gain from the company if hired?”
Hopefully money in order to pay the bills, live a modest life, and set up a retirement fund that I can live of off and spoil my grandkids with when I retire. “I hope that the energy of the company and my fellow co-workers will inspire me to design new products worthy of our customers.”
“Interesting, so how do you think they get the m on the M&M?”
Fuck, though Clarisse, it’s one of those new think outside of the box questions. How come it feels like this is going to be a long day?
