She roared into town on a stolen motorcycle, paying no regard to the laws of traffic or the things around her. She only looked ahead. She had to look ahead.

It was late afternoon when she first escaped from the blue moon institution. At five forty-seven she saw the first signs came up. “Have you seen Fei-Fei,” it read “sex: female, age: 16, place of creation: blue moon institution, race: android, height: 160 cm, weight: 45 kg, eyes: brown, hair: black, last seen wearing a white jumpsuit with pink trimmings at the joints and matching white helmet. If you spot Fei-Fei, could you contact us at…” She had to keep moving. She could not stop moving. This might be her only chance at freedom.

At six twenty-two Fei-Fei stumbles across a woman running into a small drug store. She left her keys in her pink chopper. Fei-Fei saw her chance and took it.

Sundown was at seven forty-three and with the falling of the sun Fei-Fei was hoping that her tracks would be hidden and she would be better cover from her pursuers; Fei-Fei lived a very sheltered life at the institutions. As the sun started falling the light only got bright around her as the city night life started emerging from its slumber. She however saw a building in front of her stand out from the night life. It stone exterior stood out like a sore thumb among all of the steel building around it. Its stain glass windows depicted pictures of stories told long ago. All Fei-Fei cared about was the fact that the building was dark making it the perfect hiding place for her.

As Fei-Fei entered the building, she saw that it was full of pews facing away from the door of the building with a podium and alter at the very end. There were statues along the sides of the hall depicting human in different actions and poses one in particular one of a woman holding a baby caught Fei-Fei eyes. “Is this what a mother look like?” Fei-Fei though. She hugged the stone statue. It was cold to her touch. “Is this the warmth of a mother touch?” She thought as she stood there hugging the statue. Why was she force to live the life of confinement? Why was her days filled with experimentation? Who is her actual family? Did she have a family? Will she ever know what a mother touch truly feel like?

Going up towards the alter Fei-Fei sees a black book. As she skims through the pages she sees the word god repeated many. It appears that this god is someone who protects people, so why god not protect her? Is it because she is not human? Does that mean she is second class to everyone made of flesh and blood because she is made of stainless steel?

As the sound of helicopters approach her and light flood the windows Fei-Fei whispers, “God, why have you forsaken me?”
