Humbled.
Forgiven?
Maybe.
On his knees.
Honoured.
Knighted?
Maybe.
On his knees.
Punished.
Guillotined?
Maybe.
Kneeling there,
Bored but impressed.
Knees cushioned
Hands cupped on his eyes.
A penitent, clasping a cross,
Sir Lancelot, shining with ardour,
King Louis dragged to his end.
Head bowed.
Eyes closed.
